The Bishop Moore boys lacrosse team fell a little short of the state championship, losing 11-8 to Jupiter on Saturday night in their first state final appearance .
It was the Hornets first final four appearance since then, though they were state runners-up in 2002 and 2006 when invitational championships were held before the FHSAA sanctioned the sport.
The Hornets (18.-3) went toe-to-toe with the Warriors through most of three quarters.
Junior Jake K. and sophomore R.J. S. each scored twice in the first half to help the Hornets stay tied at halftime. Jackson C. scored the first goal of the third quarter, assisted by sophomore Brooks R.
The Warriors scored again early in the fourth quarter to take a three-goal lead that proved to be their eventual margin of victory.
Goals by sophomore Hudson B. and R.J. S. pulled the Hornets within one goal again, but Jupiter again reeled off three more goals in the space of two minutes before senior Zac S. netted the last goal for Bishop Moore.
Congratulations Hornet Boys Lacrosse on a great season and a State Runner-Up Trophy!
