BMCHS made school history this spring by fielding a Girls Beach Volleyball program for the first time.
Women’s Beach Volleyball is the fastest growing sport in NCAA history, with dozens of programs popping up every year in colleges across the country. With so many athletes looking to compete and find avenues to get recruited for college, Bishop Moore decided to join in on the action.
With little to no beach volleyball experience, 13 girls teamed up to create the first ever BMCHS girls beach volleyball competition team. In their first season the Sand Hornets went 4-4, with wins over The Geneva School, Olympia, West Orange, and Master’s Academy. The ladies were in a three way tie for 1st in the district, but lost due to West Orange having a higher set percentage, BMCHS went on to Regionals and lost in the quarter finals to Monteverde Academy.
It was a great season and solid start for what looks to be a bright future for beach volleyball at Bishop Moore Catholic High School.
