Hornets News · SPRING SPORTS MESSAGE

As many of you now know, the state of Florida and the FHSAA informed schools this past weekend of continued distance learning for students and the subsequent cancellation of the remaining sports year for 2019-20.

This is disappointing news for spring sport athletes, coaches and fans that not only worked diligently to prepare, but were cut short of their desired competition. Our school and our Athletic Department appreciate the energy and commitment that all our athletes, coaches and families put forward. But we are particularly disappointed for our spring sport athletes. We send a special salute to those athletes of this specific sports season.

Although we cannot honor you in our typical fashion – senior nights, banquets, award days, or senior recognition – we have attempted to find unique ways to honor your seasons and efforts.

First, we joined with high schools all around the country on Friday night, April 17th to put on stadium lights at 8:20PM (20:20 Military Time). The lights were on for 20 minutes and the score read 20 to 20. All to let you know how much you matter.

Second, we have reached out to your various coaches to potentially do an on-line/zoom type end of the year banquet. You will be notified as these events shape up.

Third, our department is organizing virtual senior nights. These productions will be placed on our website to be seen by our families and fans.

Seniors – you are very special Hornets. The life lessons and perspectives you will take from this time into the rest of your lives will have great meaning down the road. As we note from Proverbs 3:5-7, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will keep straight your paths.”

With faith that’s everlasting, and love that’s ever true – HORNETS Forever! You are the very special class of 2020!

THANK YOU!!
