Bishop Moore defeated South Sumter 21-14 as the Raiders played their first game in their newly renovated stadium. After a scoreless 1st quarter, Daniel F. scored a TD with 10 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. On South Sumter’s next drive, Karlis B. sacked the QB causing a fumble that was picked up by Taye O. who ran 40 yards for the score to make it 14-0.
The Raiders scored on a short run to make it 14-7 before QB Luke H. hit Marc M. on a quick pass and he out ran the Raider defense 75 yards for the score to make it 21-7 at the half.
The Raiders took advantage of Hornet penalties to score at the end of the 3rd quarter to make it 21-14. The Hornets held off the Raiders in the 4th quarter to hold on to a hard fought victory.
Next week the Hornets are on the road for the second straight week, playing against Tohopekaliga High School. Next week is also special because Matt Hedrick will be vying for his 150th win at Bishop Moore Catholic as head coach. Coach Hedrick has coached football at Bishop Moore for 27 years in total, 19 years as head coach. #1MOORE
